Den gamle landsby Tolne udviklede sig for alvor til en stationsby, efter at banen mellem Hjørring og Frederikshavn blev anlagt i 1871. Som med andre stationsbyer udviklede byen sig fra at være en samling huse og gårde til at rumme købmandsgård, forsamlingshus, gæstgiveri samt jernbane- og telegrafstation omkring forrige århundredskifte.
Befolkningstallet steg i årene efter århundredskiftet. Det nåede sit højdepunkt i 1960’erne med sammenlagt ca. 300 indbyggere i Tolne Kirkeby og Tolne Stationsby. I dag ligger indbyggertallet på ca. 200. Særligt om sommeren er der mange turister i området. Der er både kro (gæstgiveri), campingplads og efterskole, hvis elever nyder godt af togstationen i Tolne Stationsby.
Tolne Bahnhofsort
Das alte Dorf Tolne entwickelte sich erst recht zu einem Bahnhofsort, nachdem die Eisenbahn zwischen Hjørring und Frederikshavn im Jahre 1871 erbaut wurde. Wie bei anderen Bahnhofsorten entwickelte sich der Ort um die vorige Jahrhundertwende von einer Ansammlung von Häusern und Höfen dazu, auch einen Kaufmannsladen, ein Versammlungshaus, eine Gastwirtschaft sowie einen Bahnhof und ein Telegrafenamt zu umfassen.
Die Bevölkerungszahl stieg in den Jahren nach der Jahrhundertwende an. Sie erreichte ihren Höhepunkt in den 1960er Jahren mit zusammengezählt etwa 300 Einwohnern in Tolne Kirkeby (Kirchenort) und Tolne Stationsby (Bahnhofsort). Heute liegt die Einwohnerzahl bei etwa 200. Besonders im Sommer gibt es in der Gegend viele Touristen. Es gibt dort eine Gastwirtschaft, einen Campingplatz und ein Internat, dessen Schüler von dem Haltepunkt in Tolne Stationsby Nutzen ziehen.
Tolne Railway Town
The old village of Tolne evolved more definitely into a railway town after the railway between Hjørring and Frederikshavn was built in 1871. As with other railway towns, it went from being a gathering of houses and farmyards to have a merchant’s house, a local assembly-building, an inn, as well as a railway station and telegraph office around the previous turn of the century.
The population increased in the years after the turn of the century. It reached a peak in the 1960s with a total of 300 inhabitants in Tolne Kirkeby and Tolne Stationsby. Today, the population numbers approx. 200. Especially during the summertime, there are many tourists in the area. There are both an inn, a camping site and a continuation school, whose pupils profit from the railway station in Tolne Stationsby.
